ELWOOD, KS – Nor-Am Cold Storage is proud to announce the expansion of their freezer capacity at the Elwood, KS location. Nor-Am purchased the former Affiliated Food Group distribution center in November 2017 and has been busy filling the building ever since.
“There is a strong demand for increased cold storage capacity across the country; being centrally located in the Midwest, adding space in Elwood is a natural fit” said Scott Albers, VP of Operations for Nor-Am. “Both existing and new customers have been looking to increase the amount of storage they utilize with us as well as tapping into our value added services such as repackaging and pre-pricing.”
The expansion will add 41,000 sf of freezer space containing 8,000 pallet locations. “The building was primarily a dry environment for Affiliated, we offer dry space but have a heavier need on the cold side” said Justin Brandt, General Manager for Nor-Am. Nor-Am currently offers freezer storage and blast freezing as well as dry and cooler storage. “This addition will use some of the latest technology in our industry to be really efficient. We’re putting in Mobile Racking which allows us to double the pallet spaces in the freezer without doubling the footprint.”

Ground work is underway and the team at Nor-Am is looking forward to seeing full on construction begin. The expansion is scheduled to be completed by April 1, 2019.
