    Check out all the Halloween events and activities happening at your local Library! Highland Wednesday, Oct. 25 at 10:15 a.m. - Story Time and Trick or Treat Down the Street (for kids) Elwood Thursday, Oct. 26 at 4 p.m. - Halloween Movie & Popcorn (for kids, rated G or PG)  Wathena Wednesday, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m. - Horror Movie Night (for adults - any children/teens must be accompanied by an adult, rated R) Friday, Oct. 27 at 10 a.m. - Story Time at the Wathena Care Center, followed by Trick or Treat Down the Street at the Wathena Library (for kids) Troy Friday, Oct. 27 at 1 p.m. - Halloween Bingo (for kids) Tuesday, Oct. 31 at 10:15 a.m. - Story Time and Trick or Treat Down the Street ...
     
  • Riverside High School Haunted House

      Riverside Drama will be hosting its 3rd Annual Haunted House on Friday, October 27th and Saturday, October 28th from 7pm-11pm. This high school zombie-themed tour will begin at the front doors of Riverside high school in Wathena and wind around the themed hallways and theatre.  Cost: General admission is $3 per person. Groups of 3-4 who are up for an interactive challenge can enter the 5-minute escape room for an additional $5 per group.  There are no age restrictions. The scare-factor is comparable to the Worlds of Fun Haunt experience. We will be offering glow necklaces to groups with younger children who would like a toned-down experience.  This student-created project serves as a kick-off to the school's Thespian troupe #7953 community service project, Trick-or-Treat ...

      Parade, Hot dogs, chips, pop, candy, pumpkin decorating booth, coloring booth, float contest, costume contest and FUN! What more could you ask for?!?! Come out to Elwood city park on Saturday, Oct. 28 and have a good time! Events & Times: 10:30am - Line up for the parade (1st St next to All American) 11:00am - Parade starts 11:45ish - Party at the Park (hot dogs, chips, pop & candy) 12:00 - Parade Float Contest ($50 for 1st Place/$25 for 2nd) 12:30 - Costume Contest (Cash prizes)   A FREE mini pumpkin decorating station will be available for kids! Everything is FREE however we ask if you're able to donate a non- perishable food item. We will then donate those to the food pantries in Elwood.

      What — Haunting Hayride and Spooktacular Stories. When — Saturday, October 28 at 7 p.m. Where — Meet on the street by the Tall Oak Indian Statue on south side of the courthouse at 7 p.m. for a haunting hayride through Troy and then to the Community Park where Cindy Hoverson, story-teller extraordinaire, will entertain everyone with her delightfully spooky tales. Who — Everyone is invited; this event is suitable for the entire family. Admission is free! More — Bring a well-behaved pet wearing a costume to the park at 7:30 for a pet costume contest! (no pets on hayride, please) Sponsored by — Troy Community Park Committee.

    The Doniphan County Sheriff's Department and the Troy Police Department are hosting the 2nd annual Trunk or Treat on Sunday, October 29. We will be blocking off Troy Main Street for all participants. Decorate your trunk and come out and have some fun. Hot dogs, chips and drinks will be provided. Costume Contest for ages: 0-3 4-7 8-12 13-17 18+ Trunk contest for all participants ***Please pre-register your trunk with the Doniphan County Sheriff's Office at 785-985-3711.
