Farmhouse on the Square is an antique, vintage, and home decor store located in Troy.

Farmhouse on the Square is located on the north side of the Troy historic downtown square. We call ourselves an "Occasional Store," since the store is open the 1st and 3rd Friday and Saturday of each month. If you can't make it to the store on those days, we're happy to open by appointment - call 785-850-0372. Treasures in the store include home decor, antiques, primitives, vintage, with farm-style mixed in, along with whatever else we come across that has what we call, "the look." We enjoy the hunt for treasures, and if our "finds" need a little love, we try our best to give them new life. We hope you enjoy our Farmhouse!

Building History

The building in this location, which may have housed Mrs. Brown’s Millinery Shop, caught on fire in 1894, but was saved. In the east side, Schwartz Harness shop escaped great damage. The second floor was a skating rink. However, it did burn down in 1899. It was rebuilt as the Leland Opera House in 1900 and on July 4, 1906, it was the location of a gala dance following the dedication of the new Courthouse.  It also served as a movie theater and high school graduations were held here.  Cyrus Leland, Jr. conducted business from the west side of the building and a farm equipment store was located in the east side.

Over the years this building has also housed the Dillenbach Law Firm, the Soil Conservation office, the Sparks Café and the Earhart Electric Company.
