Doniphan Co. Health Department/ Home Health will begin pediatric COVID-19 vaccine clinics

On November 2, the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) and Centers for Disease Control(CDC) authorized and recommended through emergency use authorization the Pfizer BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for children ages 5-11. This is the only authorized vaccine for children ages 5 and older.

The COVID-19 vaccines are safe and work well for children. They have been fully tested in clinical trials and meet the FDA’s standards for safety and effectiveness. Additional testing, specifically for children, showed that the best dose for kids (which is smaller than the adult vaccine dose) maximizes protection and minimizes side effects. The FDA’S teams of doctors, scientists and other experts reviewed all the findings of these large studies when making their decision about COVID-19 vaccines in young children.

Doniphan County Health Department will hold COVID-19 Vaccination Clinics for ages 5-17 for the following dates at the health department:

  • Tuesday, November 23, 2021 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
    (2nd dose, December 14, 2021 – 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.)
  • Thursday, December 2, 2021 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
    (2nd Dose, December 23, 2021 – 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. )

You must be able to return for a second dose three weeks from the date of your first COVID-19 Vaccine. You may attend any of the above clinics for the first dose.
