The Doniphan County Commissioners and Northeast Kansas Environmental Services (NEKES) will be hosting a tire collection day on Saturday, June 18, 2022 from 7:30 a.m. to noon.
This event will be held at the Doniphan County Road and Bridge Shop, 302 W. Robertson, Troy, KS. All county residents who wish to participate will need to show proof of currently living in Doniphan county (driver’s license or a utility bill).
Tire Cutters Inc. of Seneca, KS has been contracted to collect the tires brought in that day.
Doniphan county residents will be able to dispose of up to 10 passenger or pickup tires without the rim FOR FREE. If they are on the rim, they will cost $1.00 each. Any passenger tires brought in after the 10 free ones will cost $2.50 each, or $3.50 if they are still on the rim.
The charge for semi-truck tires without the rim will be $7.00 each, or $9.00 each with the rim.
The cost of motorcycle tires will be $1.75 each.
All other tires will be pro-rated based on size. For example, the cost of tractor tires will vary from $10.00 to $30.00 each, depending on their size. Businesses who have old tires lying around are encouraged to contact Tire Cutters to see about getting rid of their tires.
This is a great time to clean out any piles of old tires that are lying around. Rain collects in them and they are a harbor for mosquitoes. With the current Zika virus threat, it’s a good idea to eliminate all possible sources of standing water.
Please call NEK Environmental Services at 785-985-2778 if you have any questions.
